QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS ABOUT CUSTOM FITTING
How do different specifications affect my game?

• Lie angle affects direction of the ball.
• Shaft delivers energy to the ball.
• Head design affects the trajectory and the direction of the ball.
• Length affects comfort, balance and the ability to have center hits.
• Loft affects the trajectory of the ball.
Why should I get a club fit?
Different specifications make the equipment perform differently. This is why the Richmond Hill Golf Learning Centre offers different lie angles, shafts, head designs, lengths and lofts. One of our club fitters can fit you with clubs that are easy-to-play, which will get the clubs working better for you, improving consistency, confidence and help to lower scores.
Does it make sense for a high handicapper to get custom fit?
All levels of players can benefit from properly fitted golf clubs. A club that is easy to hit for one golfer may not be easy to hit for another player, which is why we offer variations of the same product. Through product evaluation, manufacturers have made equipment which can perform for all levels of golfers.
What should I expect from a club fit?
There are many different combinations a golf club can be constructed with. Usually, the first step in a club fitting is some type of player evaluation. The fitter will typically want to know a little about you as a golfer. Questions that are generally asked are about handicap, golf strengths, weaknesses, years experience and shot preferences. The more you can tell the fitter about your game the better they will be able to properly fit you. During an iron fit the fitter will evaluate lie angle using some type of dynamic measurement such as a lie board. The fitter will also have you hit balls to determine the best shaft, length and head design. The most common elements of a wood fitting are shaft flex, loft and head design. A club fitter should be able to find the best specifications for you. These specifications can be used by our professional club fitting systems to design a set that is easy for you to hit.
What should I get at the end of a club fit?
A golfer that goes through a club fitting should gain two things. The first is the knowledge and understanding of the specifications which work the best for them. This is very valuable information since club specifications affect the flight of the ball. Knowing that your clubs have the correct specifications will give you peace of mind so that you can play your best golf. Secondly, you should be ordering a golf club which is easy to hit. Not only do you have the knowledge but you should be getting a club that works for you instead of against you.
What benefits will I get from a club fitting?
Consistency is one of the major reasons people get fit for clubs. With a set of clubs that are built for you, your bad days will be better and your good days will be great. Equipment that is built for you will increase your chances of performing at your peak. Confidence will be increased by having clubs that are the correct specifications for you. This allows you to concentrate on the golf course being fully confident of your clubs.
